Germany, with the lowest wage bill, paid only $40,000.
The United Kingdom, where public servants earn an average of $50,000 per year, paid its most senior employees an average wage of $84,000 in 2018, according to data from the National Audit Office (NAO).
In 2017, the United Kingdom paid the lowest hourly wage for a public servant in the European Union ($20 per hour), followed by France ($25) and Germany ($27).
The United Arab Emirates, where the public servants pay an average hourly wage of just $20 per day, paid their highest-paid employees an annual wage of about $150,000 last year.
